Probably because I have a weird sense of humor, and spent way too much time in front of the soda fountain following Pee Wee football games, I’ve always been a bit skeptical about the movement to asterisk the word “suicide” and provide a standard disclaimer whenever the word or topic is mentioned.
I know firsthand many people who have lost loved ones to suicide and understand it’s an awful and tragic thing, but I just think putting a disclaimer on the word is ineffective and, if anything, makes people think more about it.
Plus, if we’re going to do it on “suicide,” shouldn’t we also do it for homicide?
“Thinking about killing someone? Call 1-800-FBI-HELP. Operators are standing by.”
Let’s be honest – sometimes the suicide disclaimers feel forced and can be a buzzkill. Thank God political correctness didn’t exist in Shakespeare's time, because it really would have ruined the mood:
Romeo: Ah, dear Juliet, why art thou yet so fair? Here's to my love. O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss, I die.
Paris: Should sorrow’s weight thy tender heart undo, call 988 now — there’s hope and help for you!
Anyway, I bring up this uncomfortable topic because a Norman City Councilwoman recently killed her political career after she was caught telling a constituent to commit suicide.
Back in June 2024, Norman Ward 3 Councilwoman Bree Montoya left a Facebook comment on KFOR's facebook page disputing a Facebook comment about the “No Kings” rally.
I guess someone then left a snide comment about her snide comment, which prompted Montoya to go full Harry Manback on the person and list some ways they could kill themselves.

Yikes. That reply is more lame than an Erotic Suicide track! First of all, pick one method of suicide and stick with it. Second, her last name is Montoya! If that was my last name, I’d end every Internet argument by asking if the other poster has six fingers.
Although it occurred months ago, Montoya’s post landed in the clammy, six-fingered hands of the Libs of TikTok lady.
Even though she blindly supports right-wing politicians who say viciously cruel, inappropriate, politically incorrect things online and in person, she decided to make an issue of it.
I guess the resulting pressure from the right-wing hate-o-sphere got to Montoya and, just like Brutus in Julius Caesar, she quickly fell on her blade:
City council member resigns after going viral on Libs of TikTok for vile comment made to Trump supporter
— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) September 26, 2025
“While the fake news media refuses to acknowledge the truth of the rising epidemic of far-left violence, LoTT will continue to expose them”https://t.co/T5BSJjvGlN
Once again, I know suicide is a serious thing, so don’t do it. Well, unless you’re the Libs of TikTok lady — then go right ahead. As Mudhoney would say, do it for all the likes.
To be clear, I really don’t want the Libs of TikTok lady to go kill herself.
I wouldn’t mind something embarrassingly bad happening to her — that would be cool — but whether you’re cancel-culturing on the left or right, I think you should stay alive and continue doing your best to annoy the living. If it wasn’t for them, where would we find the sanctimonious hypocrites to keep politicians on their toes?
Anyway, since this post mentioned suicide and I don’t want to be cancelled, I guess I better wrap this up and awkwardly say if you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential help.
Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
