In yesterday’s article about Ryan Walters ramping up his Christian Indoctrination crusade, I ended with some speculative questions and our trademarked sign off:
With Ryan working in hyperdrive to appease and appeal to Donald Trump – and apparently one-up Kevin Stitt – it will be interesting to see what the holy Christian Nationalist putz does next.
For example, I wonder if he’ll require all school choirs to sing Baptist hymns, make January 6th a school holiday, or require in-school suspension for all alleged heretics.
Whatever it is, you know the drill – Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
Well, it looks like my “What Will Ryan Do Next Scenarios?” were a bit too mild and conservative.
Forget Baptist hymns, January 6th holidays, or suspensions for alleged heretics. Ryan’s new demand? All school district superintendents must force their students to watch a video of him praying to (and for) Donald Trump.
Check out this email he apparently mass-sent to all state school superintendents:
Yep, that’s right. According to Ryan, our student’s religious liberties are "continuously under assault,” and the solution for this is to "encourage" children to watch him pray to God for Donald Trump.
Dangerous times, indeed.
You can watch the video and prayer below.
I assume it’s a shoo-in for a number of Fascies – the coveted awards handed out at the American Society of Christian Nationalists’ annual ‘God, Guns and Facism’ prayer luncheon.
No lie. Even Donald Trump has to watch that and think – ”Is this guy fucking nuts?”
In other news, imagine for a second that Jesus and God and all the angels in heaven are real. I wonder what they’re thinking when that thing comes through the 1.900.Prayer-Line? Hopefully their response will be to strike Oklahoma with a giant bolt of divine lightning for somehow electing that Christian Nationalist putz.
As we’ve mentioned a few hundred times in the past, Ryan’s whole political shtick is to seek out publicity and infamy by doing and saying stupid, shocking things that stick it to the libs – and, apparently, anyone else who appreciates fundamental principles in the U.S. Constitution, like the separation of church and state. He then feeds off that news cycle until there’s a new controversy (or tragedy) for him to exploit.
That’s obviously what’s happening here. When the lawsuits start rolling in, and he begins trying to revoke the licenses of superintendents who refuse to indoctrinate (and politicize) their students – while promoting the ones who do – he’ll accomplish his goal.
Anyway, I’d try to, once again, speculate about what absurd action Ryan will take next in his effort to both violate the U.S. Constitution and appease Trump, but since we’ve reached the point where fiction can’t match the absurdity of reality, I think I’ll pass.
Until next time – and let’s be real, it’ll probably be tomorrow – Stay with The Lost Ogle. We’ll keep you advised.
