With Ryan Walters currently stealing all the negative headlines, outrage, and attention from the local media and political establishment, Governor Kevin Stitt is doing whatever he can to remain relevant—and to make sure libs and normal folks still don’t like him.
For example, earlier this week, he doubled down on his moronic, politically driven stance to not accept federal funding that would help provide food to hungry kids.
How’s that for some dignity?!
Stitt’s move isn’t very surprising. He garnered a lot of negative attention the last time he pulled this stunt, so it’s no shock that he’s gone to the well again for an encore:
As Erin Christy noted, when Stitt rejected the money the first time around, he said there wasn’t enough information about the program.
Governor Stitt claimed the reason Oklahoma did not opt into the federal program—which would give each eligible child $120 for summer meals through an EBT card—was because there wasn’t enough information and the rules weren’t finalized.
“I think you need to ask the feds why they want everyone to opt in before they’ve even finalized the program,” he told reporters.
Now that the program has been successfully rolled out in other states and has helped feed hungry kids, Stitt is saying he’s turning down the money because of Joe Biden.
He also claims Oklahoma has plenty of food on the table to feed hungry kids, even though every food bank and non-profit in the state that fights food insecurity says that’s not the case:
Yep, rest easy tonight, hungry Oklahoma kids.
It may suck to go to bed on an empty stomach, but hey, at least you’re not getting help from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They’re the real bad guys in all this.
Anyway, now that Stitt’s gotten the requisite amount of negative media attention from the press, it’ll be interesting to see what he does next.
Will he be content with what he’s achieved and slip back onto the sidelines to watch Ryan Walters get beaten and destroyed, or will he host another Meatweek stunt to stick it to both PETA and hungry kids?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
