Walters’ Workforce Whimsy: Ryan’s First Big Hire Bails on ‘Grant Ghosting’ Gig!

Back in June, Ryan Walters named Pamela Smith-Gordon – a fellow yahoo from McAlester who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2022 – as his new OSDE Grant Development and Compliance Program Manager. 

Remember her? She seemed like a pretty good right-wing fit at the time:

Since the centerpiece of Ryan’s plan to sabotage and defund Oklahoma schools is to not apply for any federal education grants, Pamela seemed to have a pretty easy job as a grant writer.

All she had to do was show up to work, not do any work, and then get promotions and raises for it! You know, kind of like that one Braum’s employee whose job it is to stand around in the back and look confused all the time. Pretty sweet gig, huh?

Unfortunately for Pam, she must have misread the job description.

In what can only be construed as a major HR gaffe, Pam apparently thought she was being hired to do the work she was being hired to do – write grants and secure federal funding for Oklahoma public schools – and not sit around all day on the Internet, reading Drudge Report and shopping at deguns.net, making sure grant applications accidentally get sent to the SPAM folder. 

What a stooge, huh?

After finding out she was actually the Milton of the OSDE, and supposed to hide in the basement and not do any work, I guess Pamela got a little salty, took her red stapler, and quit! 

The only difference is that instead of setting the OSDE on fire, she wrote a scathing resignation that directly called out Ryan Walters for his general incompetence, lack of leadership and A.W.O.L management style! She also claimed to be “disturbed” by his narcissistic need to pander to the public as opposed to actually running the agency. 

Basically, it’s like she had no clue she had accepted a job to work for Ryan Walters! 

The full letter was leaked to KFOR gumshoe Kaylee Olivas, who promptly shared it on Xwitter.

Geeze, is there anything Ryan Walters can’t screw up? 

There are about 2-million right-wing gun nuts in Oklahoma he could have hired to just sit around, not apply for grants, and be content and happy getting a direct deposit dropped in their checking account every two weeks, and he goes out and hires the one who actually wants to do the job! 

If that doesn’t prove he’s an incompetent moron, I don’t know what else does!

There’s a part of me that wants to applaud Pam for having the courage to quit and give Ryan the written business, but the fact that she also claimed to be excited about the “direction” he’s taking public school ruins that for me. You can’t have it both ways, lady. It’s not okay to watch Ryan burn the building down, just as long as you're not helping spread the fire. 

Anyway, now that Pam is back at the gun range loading bullets, I guess the OSDE needs a grant writer to not write any grants for the agency. If you, like Ryan, are lazy and also want to see Oklahoma public schools go bankrupt, be sure you apply for this amazing opportunity. Just please don’t expect to have to do any work.
