We'd like to send some positive vibes and sympathies to Abigail of House Ogle.
Yesterday afternoon, the east Edmond home she shares with her husband, Jeff Ewing, and two dogs, Cru Ewing-Ogle and Chloe Ewing-Ogle, was destroyed in a fire.
Naturally, KOCO was first on the scene and on the story:
Tragedy hit close to home today for the KOCO 5 family. KOCO 5 News Anchor Abigail Ogle’s house was destroyed in a massive fire Thursday afternoon, KOCO 5 has learned.
The fire was reported near Memorial Road and Eastern Avenue. No injuries were reported, Abigail and her pets made it out of the home safely.
Firefighters said this was a defensive fire as there was heavy fire in the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
From all of us here at KOCO 5, we are a family, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Abigail and her family during this difficult time.
I know we like to torment / mess around with our local media personalities and make light of most news stories, but we're obviously taking the high road on this one. My dad – a gallivanting local artist – lost everything he owned, including most of his artwork, when a fire destroyed his studio in the 1970s. It was as such a traumatic and awful event that he settled down, married my mom and created me! He hasn't been the same since.
Abigail issued the following statement about the blaze on Facebook:
Wow! That was an intense fire! According to sources, Abigail discovered the blaze when she woke to get a cold pop and thought somebody was barbecuing and, well, nevermind.
In all seriousness, we'd once again like to send our thoughts and positive vibes to Abigail and her family. Hopefully they're able to salvage some personal possessions, rebuild and recover and — in the process — turn it all into an emotional and riveting sweeps story.
