OKC’s abandoned haunted insane asylum looks like a fun place to visit…

Are you one of those weirdos who believes in ghosts and likes to break into old buildings? Well, have we got some good news for you, Steve Lackmeyer! According to a recent report from News 9, OKC's most popular haunted abandoned insane asylum is right here waiting for you.

Via News 9:

A metro man claims the notion of ghosts at a now abandoned former insane asylum is costing him thousands.

Millard Bowie owns the old St. Vincent’s Home at 3501 NE 23rd in Oklahoma City. The place has been abandoned for decades, but Bowie says ghost hunters have been breaking through boarded up windows to film their own adventures.

Bowie says it started a couple years ago when the show “Ghost Asylum” visited St. Vincent’s Home and others started visited as well.

Bowie thinks he’s boarded up the building 10 to 12 times and has racked up just over $3000 in fines from the city.

“It’s a major problem,” explained Bowie, who says he can no longer afford to hire a security company to patrol the building.

Yeah, that's not cool. It doesn't matter if you're high on meth, hunting supernatural beings or simply cover the downtown business beat for The Oklahoman – it's never okay to break into an old abandoned insane asylum that's haunted by the spirits of the clinically insane.

That being said, why the hell would you go to the local news about the problem? Outside of letting more ghost hunters and bored teenage juggalos know about your abandoned haunted property, what does that accomplish?

"Hey, what do you want to do tonight?"

"I don't know. Let's get high and go break into that haunted former insane asylum that we recently saw on the news."

Also, why does the guy even own a haunted abandoned insane asylum? That doesn't sound like a smart investment. Is he going to flip it into a gentrified haunted house, or does he aspire to be the villain the next time Scooby Doo, Shaggy and the Harlem Globetrotters come to town?

News 9 has the answer:

On Tuesday, Bowie took his concerns to City Council members to explain that he needs help keeping up with the break-ins. He’s tell News 9 he will try to get electricity to the place so he can put up lights to deter break-ins.

Eventually, Bowie hopes to turn the place into something positive for the community.

“I’d like to see it be a drug rehab for women,” said Bowie.

Okay. I'm not a parapsychologist or anything, but something tells me that converting the haunted old insane asylum into a drug rehab center for women probably isn't the best idea. Are the women seeing real ghosts, or simply going through heroin withdrawals? It would be hard to tell.

Anyway, Abandoned Oklahoma broke into the building a few years ago and took pictures. You can see them here. That way you'll know what to expect when you break in.
