If Jimmy Fallon shows up late for work today, I guess we know why.
Last night, Oklahoma City native and celebrity chef Danny Bowien appeared on the Tonight Show to cook a burrito. During the segment, he made an Edna's Lunchbox for Jimmy Fallon and Questlove.
Here's the video:
That's pretty cool. If you're under the age of 50, drink alcohol and live in Oklahoma City, you've probably had a few Lunch Boxes in your life. You've also probably had to deal with a dreaded Lunch Box hangover. It's the worst. When you wake up in the morning you feel like one of Edna's muscley bartenders hit you over the head with a club after each drink. They should seriously consider serving a little packet of Advil with each drink as a garnish.
Anyway, you can read more about my love of lunchboxes and Edna's in this tribute to the bar's late, great owner. I wonder if Danny Bowien asked the Roots to play "Great Balls of Fire" as a tribute? Also, when is Bowien going to show his hometown some love and open a restaurant here? I think a cool concept would be a Mission-themed restaurant that serves hangover food from drinking too many Lunch Boxes. I could use a break from Braum's.
