Here's some bad news if you're an old lady who drives a Fiat.
This Tuesday, the Oklahoma City City Council will vote on an ordinance that will make it a crime to panhandle on medians. From a William Crum article in Thursday's Oklahoman:
The Oklahoma City Council soon could take up a measure to expand criminal penalties for panhandling.
A proposed ordinance would make it a misdemeanor to panhandle from the median of city streets.
A leading advocate for the homeless said the proposal, if enacted, could drive panhandlers into downtown and Bricktown, in search of foot traffic sufficient to support their needs.
Wow. That's awesome! Our City Council has finally found a way to get locals to visit Bricktown again. I'm sure the Spaghetti Warehouse will love all the new customers.
For some reason, probably because the Hefner goats are no longer returning his phone calls, Crum did a follow-up report on the story the following day. Apparently, the City Council is doing all this because of some recent happenings at our city's most entertaining intersection:
