Sally Kern’s husband doesn’t like homosexual-themed plays about the bible…

Here in a few weeks, the Oklahoma City Theatre Company will perform a satirical, homosexual-themed play called “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.” The play makes fun of religion, the bible, and would probably be a hit on Bravo:

Seeking a theatrical offering for the holidays that challenges the norm and appeals to an alternative audience, OKCTC presents this rib-tickling satirical take on selected stories from the Bible. Act 1 is a retelling of the major episodes of the Old Testament and the Nativity story. Act 2 jumps to modern day where Adam and Steve (who met in Eden, broke up during the flood, and were reunited when they both show up as shepherds during the Nativity) are together again. Bound by their long life together, the two men comfort each other even though their remaining time will be short. A hilarious comedy with a surprisingly dramatic heart.

Naturally, the production has irked the Derplahoman army. One of their alpha leaders, Sally Kern's husband Rev. Steve Kern (pictured above), is planning a prayer gathering in protest.

Via NewsOK:

A group of Christian pastors said they plan to host a prayer vigil outside the Civic Center Music Hall as a peaceful protest against a theatrical production with homosexual themes...

Kern said he and several other local pastors obtained a copy of the play and they feel that it is an affront to the Bible because of its gay and lesbian characters and its inclusion of simulated oral and anal sex and bestiality.

Uhm, oral sex and lesbians are an affront to the bible? Does the good book frown upon Fridays, free ice cream and pandas, too? Probably so.

“We feel like this play is an open display of intolerance, irreverence and disrespect for the faith of the majority of citizens of this city,” Kern said, referring to Christianity.

“We're just appalled. I mean, this thing is just over the top.”

Yes, Rev. Steve Kern is "appalled" by the play's "open display of intolerance, irreverence and disrespect." He is aware it's a satirical spoof about the bible and not The Sally Kern Story, right? Can he be any more delusional? The answer to that is "yes."

Kern said he expects the planned prayer vigil to be peaceful, with no one “yelling or screaming anything.”

“We're going to be praying,” he said.

“I just feel like we as Christians need to begin speaking out publicly about things like this. We've been silent for far too long.”

Ha! That's the first thing that crossed my mind, too. I think we all can agree that intolerant Christians like Sally Kern have been way too silent about homosexuality. While he's at it, maybe he can get them to open about abortion, gun rights and rock n' roll music.

Anyway, this would probably be a good time to remind Steve in my best Sam Kinison voice that YOU'RE MARRIED TO SALLY KERN!!! SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO KEEP HER MOUTH CLOSED!!! SHE COMPARED HOMOSEXUALS TO TERRORISTS!!! THAT'S WAY MORE OFFENSIVE THAN TWO GUYS BLOWING EACH OTHER IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN.

Anyway, the play runs from December 5th through December 22nd in the freakin' basement of the Civic Center. If you want to go, click here.
