It was announced last week that The Arcade Fire will perform at the Austin City Limits music festival on September 14-16. Along with them, the following other bands will also play:
The White Stripes "¢ The Killers "¢ Wilco "¢ Muse "¢ My Morning Jacket "¢ Bloc Party "¢ The Arctic Monkeys "¢ Spoon "¢ Clap Your Hands Say Yeah "¢ Andrew Bird
Talk about an Indie music wet dream. This line-up means two things:
1. My "Out-of-Office" auto-responder will be turned on from September 13-16.
2. We have to get The Arcade Fire to play in Oklahoma City.
I was fortunate enough to see them at the Conservatory about 3-years ago when they were the opening act for a Canadian band called The Unicorns. They were (and still are) the best live band I have ever seen. If they are going to be in Austin in September, I imagine that hey are going to have some sort of expanded US tour. If they do, that tour should include Oklahoma City.
I'm not sure what it will take to get them (or any band) to come here and play, but if you are some powerful Oklahoma City concert promoter, please try. I don't care if they are the opening act for some Hinder Fest or a Color Me Badd reunion, I'll still fork over the change. And I imagine many other culturally adept, intelligent Oklahoman's would do the same.
(I posted a YouTube clip of the band. YouTube really doesn't capture their act very well, but I've really been wanting to embed some videos, and this is a great chance to do so.)
